HiLabs Recognized in three Categories in the 2024 Gartner® Hype Cycle™ for US Healthcare Payers

HiLabs is proud to announce that we were recognized in the 2024 Gartner® Hype Cycle™ for US Healthcare Payers.

HiLabs was mentioned in three categories:

  1. Provider/Partner Network Management Platforms
  2. Provider Data Management
  3. LLMs for Healthcare Payers

This Hype Cycle provides critical input for strategic planning by tracking the maturity level and adoption rate of payer technologies and deployment approaches.

As such, we believe HiLabs' presence in all three of these categories provides insight into how the universe of provider data is evolving. Below are three trends we’ve identified in that evolution:

1. The definition of end-to-end provider data management is expanding

If you asked people in the ecosystem to define end-to-end provider data management as early as a year ago, they would tell you that it starts with roster ingestion and ends with directory accuracy. However, now that so many payers have implemented such solutions, the market is normalizing the operational efficiencies gained by roster automation and improved directory accuracy. Now, to maintain competitiveness, payers must also engage in proactive network management and generate value from their provider contracts.

2. “What-if” scenario simulations are a must

Given the increased regulatory scrutiny around provider data, payers must reduce ghost networks while maintaining network adequacy. “What-if” scenario simulations, which can pressure test a network's resilience after removing bad addresses or changes to time and distance standards, are the only way payers can address both issues simultaneously.

3. Specialized LLMs are winning the day

Hallucinations in traditional LLMs have hampered their adoption and kept their value surface-level. Now, novel LLMs created for specialized payer use cases, such as reading provider contracts, are unlocking tremendous value. Payer business units can extract valuable information buried in provider contracts, like price configuration, without relying solely on the specialized knowledge of provider data teams.

Going forward

Reflecting on these trends, it’s clear that the provider data landscape is rapidly evolving. These trends will also become table stakes in a year. That is why to remain leaders in the industry, HiLabs establishes deep partnerships with health plans to solve complex problems. It is because of these very collaborations that HiLabs technology maintains its place as an industry thought leader and innovator.
